Why Should you Choose The Bradley Method®?
·Statistical analysis shows that students who attend a full 12 week course series are more likely to have an unmediated birth ·There is a difference between learning information and preparing the body physically for an athletic event ·Classes teach women proper exercise techniques preparing for the birthday ·Learning increase stamina, since labors can be short or long ·Building confidence through practice, encouragement, and understanding ·Nutritional knowledge to have a healthy mother and baby, for good uterine, placenta growth as well as to ward off pregnancy related diseases ·Education on proper relaxation techniques ·Preparation for your husband (coach), birth partner, and Doula ·Helping to develop a birth plan with knowledge of medical terms ·Postnatal care ·Breastfeeding education
Dr. Bradley liked equating birth with swimming. If someone told you they would throw you into 10 feet of water at the end of nine months it could be very scary. Someone who did not know how to swim could drown or be saved by a life guard kicking and screaming along the way. If you took that time to take classes and learn how to swim it would be a different story. Twelve weeks to learn and incorporate nutrition, relaxation, coaching, knowledge, exercise and rehearsals into birth is a small investment of time, making it more likely they will be able to birth without drugs. A healthy baby, healthy mother, healthy family and a labor that is natural is beneficial to the start or growth of a healthy family. (adapted and borrowed from) http://www.bradleybirth.com/Why12.aspx
Before having our children we knew we wanted to have an unmedicated birth. We were blessed to have been stationed at a base that offered The Bradley Method®. It was 12 weeks, meeting once a week, of learning by having in depth discussions on exercise, nutrition, the labor process, watching videos, practice by doing, and having those who had gone through it share their experience.
I have since given birth to my 7 children completely naturally using The Bradley Method®. Proper breathing, knowing what my body was doing, having my husband to encourage and guide me, and having prepared nutritionally and physically are what helped me through my pregnancy, labor, and birth process, as well as having learned the importance of breastfeeding. The Bradley Method® empowered us to have the births of our dreams. In 2012 we gave birth to our 8th child, a planned unassisted home birth.
I am currently offering The Bradley Method® in the Prince William and Fairfax county area.
